Year 9 News
Term one has been a very busy and exciting time for all of the staff and students in B15. Our year nine cohort have been busily making their way through a jam packed program of literacy, numeracy, arts, physical education, independent living skills and community access activities.
A highlight of the term for all involved have been our weekly shopping trips into Kalamunda to source supplies for our Friday cooking sessions and to practise our skills in and around the community. The students have set a marvellous example when in the community and when purchasing items at IGA. The café visits towards the end of term have demonstrated some very mature attitudes among our students.
The cooking sessions on Friday have been cracking along with delicious recipes such as Scrambled Eggs and French Toast. The students are developing excellent skills in handling a hot fry pan and maintaining hygiene in the kitchen. These cooking sessions have run within the Independent Living Skills program which has also included general cleaning, washing and drying clothes and tea towels, bed making and ironing. We have been able to help out other departments of the High School such as the Home Economics rooms and Canteen by washing some of their tea towels.
We have had some sad moments with the departures of two students this term who have moved from the area. We wish Steven and Reece all the best ion their new homes and schools.
We are looking forward to a well deserved Easter Break and fun filled term two. Well done to all B15 students and staff, see you all bright and cheery next term!
