Year 10 News
The Year 10 group have enthusiastically settled in to the new school year. This year they will place more focus on understanding the world of work from a more practical perspective. Last year they were introduced to the world of work by looking at the many types of work available and going out on excursions to visit different workplaces. This year they will all experience what it is like to work for one day a week. Karli and Luke have commenced with work at Activ Industries in Bentley, while Cheyenne has commenced at the Kalamunda Bowling Club. Summer, Vicki and Shannon will have their orientation for the Woolworths' SPICE Program in Week 10. They will commence workplace learning early term 3.
Of course, we still have core subjects to learn such as Maths, English, Science and SOSE. Yet even Maths and English will have a more practical work oriented focus. When asked what the students like about being in Year 10 this year these were their replies.
“I like everything about being in year 10, the teachers, the students, the subjects, everything, but particularly my friends.” Summer.
“I like to do work experience.” Cheyenne.
“I like cooking and sport.” Vicki
I like my teachers and playing basketball. I love the flight simulator. Shannon
Karli said that she likes all the people in the class and working on the computer. In particular, she likes the RAZ-Kids program. Luke also likes working on the computer and in particular the Reading Eggs program.
